About Fair Data

The Fair Data ethical trust mark gives consumers control over how their data is handled. Fair Data identifies companies that are ethical and take privacy seriously.

If consumers deal with a Fair Data organisation, they can have confidence their information is handled safely, securely and in accordance with privacy laws.

On the 1st November 2018 AMSRS launched the Fair Data certification program to enable identification of companies applying best practice in the handling, use and storage of customer information and data.

Companies who achieve Fair Data certification can use the Fair Data mark. This mark identifies organisations that are ethical and transparent about how they will handle personal data collected from Australian consumers.

Fair Data is an international standard. Launched in the United Kingdom by the Market Research Society (MRS) in 2013, it has been adopted in the Netherlands, Singapore and now Australia.

The Fair Data mark indicates to consumers that a certified Australian research organisation takes privacy seriously and has systems in place to ensure its handling of personal information complies with Australian privacy law.
